French roulette is a bit different from its American and European counterparts. The game of roulette is played differently the world over and each different type has different rules. Although the French roulette has the same basic rules as its American and European counterparts, there are some rules, which are a bit different. The basic difference is the fact that while American roulette has a single zero and a double zero the French roulette has only a single zero.
All the pockets in the wheel of a French roulette are white in color except the zero which is red or black in color. The positioning of numbers in the wheel also differs largely in the French roulette from the American one. The unique property of the French roulette is that the odds here are about ten times better than the odds in American roulette.
This is because even if the ball falls on zero the players lose only 50% of their even money wagers. This system is known as the La Partage rule and can be found only in the French roulette. The system of betting differs in the French roulette with there being a variety of bets on different combination of numbers. Some of the inside bets include Straight Up, Split Bet, Street Bet, Corner Bet and Line bets. Straight up bet is the bet where you can place a chip that is bet on any number.
The chip is placed on that number. Split bet means that you can bet on any two adjacent numbers and then the chip will be placed in between the two numbers. Street bet includes three numbers and the chip is placed on the outer borderline of the table. Corner bet covers four numbers and the chip is placed at the intersection points of the four numbers. Line bet finally is the combination of two street bets i.e. you bet on six numbers.
